1. | IS IT NECESSARY TO VARNISH TARKETT PARQUET? |
| Tarkett parquet flooring is factory-lacquer lacquered with prosthetics that are applied five times. Thanks to the protective layer Proteco® new generation wooden floors have all the characteristics of lacquered floors from the maintenance aspect. Tarkett products are known for its extremely resilient surface layer. It’s up to you to decide whether to take a shiny or matte-lacqued floor. |
| 2. | WHAT SYSTEM IS TARKETT PARQUET BUILT IN, AND IS THAT COMPLICATED? |
| Tarkett parquet is set up with the simplest system there is – the T-Lock system. Tarkett offers a tried-and-tested solution for those who want to set the floor quickly and without pasting: T-Lock. This system has passed the most difficult tests and allows the boards to be installed right next to each other, without spaces. With the T-Lock system, boards are placed at an angle to solidify against each other (see picture). Advantages of T-Lock setup: Easy and fast placement, without the use of bread, boards are so good on each other, there is no gap between them, if necessary boards can be separated. |
| 3. | HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE TO SET UP TARKETT PARQUET? |
| Tarkett through its installation system allows you to install your new parquet flooring on the same day and move in, without hobing, lacquering, drying and cleaning as in setting standard parquet flooring. Of course, provided that you have previously prepared the surface on which you place the parquet flooring. (see question 11th and 12th). |
| 4. | IS IT POSSIBLE TO WALK ON PARQUET IMMEDIATELY AFTER INSTALLATION? |
| If the parquet is built in without pasting, you can walk on it immediately. In case you have installed parquet flooring by pasting the base (concrete or any other surface) you will still have to wait 1-2 days before you can use the room freely. |
| 5. | WHICH METHOD OF CONNECTING THE FLOORS AND INSTALLING PARQUET FLOORS IS BETTER? |
| Which method of connecting the floorboards and installing parquet flooring is better – a traditional system using glue or a modern method without using glue (T-Lock system)? In the table below, the characteristics of both ways of installing parquet flooring are listed – judge for yourself which system is better for you! Modern method – connecting the dash without glue | Traditional methods – coupling dasaka glue | Quick and easy installation – do it alone | Installation takes longer – because the glue must be put in the grooves of the planks, and the excess glue must be removed immediately | The maximum power of the joints is achieved immediately after the connection | The joints become completely firm only after the glue is completely dried and hardened | The floor is ready for use immediately after installation | The room can be walkable no earlier than 12 hours, and full load is possible only after 1-2 days | Installation errors can be removed immediately | Installation errors cannot be single-stoped | Bread is not necessary | Using glue is the only possible solution | Damaged boards can be easily replaced | Damaged boards cannot be easily replaced | The floor is more easily adjusted to the temperature and humidity changes in the room | Temperature and humidity levels in space must not vary | Access to a cane (in case of an emergency) is quick and easy | Underlying access is not easy | Quick and easy disassembly | Quick and easy disassembly is not possible | Parquet can be re-installed in another room | Parquet can’t be reused |
| 6. | ARE THERE CRACKS AND SEPARATIONS AT TARCAT PARQUET? |
| The process of drying wood is of great importance. The process is strictly controlled in Tarkett and takes six to eight weeks. This fairly long and controlled part of the production will make yours safe and prevent cracks and separation of parquet floors. In the production of parquet flooring it is strictly careful not to use unnatural accelerated wood drying processes so that your parquet maintains the first appearance for many years. In order to be fully and long-term satisfied with Tarkett parquet flooring, you must certainly adhere to instructions for the installation of parquet flooring as well as the preservation of the internal microclip and make sure that the floor is not a good floor solution in rooms where relative humidity and temperature vary extremely frequently or vary significantly (terraces, bathrooms, overhears, basements…). |
| 7. | IS THE TARKETT FLOOR STABLE AND PERMANENT FLOOR? |
| Multi-end construction at Tarkett Parquet represents a significant technological and qualitate advantage and innovation in the market. It is the most modern and improved technology of parquet production that makes parquet flooring more durable, durable and above all more stable than classic solid parquet flooring. |
| 8. | WHAT DOES “SWIMMING” INSTALLATION MEAN? |
| Installation without pasting or so-called “paste”. “swimming” installation means that the parquet is not attached (nails or glue) to the base. The surface must be flat, unassisted, dry and clean – it should meet all applicable standards. Relative humidity is required to be between 30% and 60%, and temperature, at least 18ºC before, during and after installation. Since moisture can also occur in new buildings, the room needs to be heated and ventilated before the floor is set to achieve adequate internal temperature. Packets of Tarkett parquet should be opened immediately before installation. Take care of the humidity of the surface on which the parquet flooring is placed – the surface must be dry enough. We highly recommend the use of Tarkoflex parquet flooring to provide satisfactory protection against existing or potential moisture that may appear in concrete! |
| 9. | WHAT IS MOISTUREBARIERS? |
| Moisturiser is a surface to be placed under the floorboards that serves to protect the floor from moisture. In case you place parquet on a concrete surface, always use tarkoflex protective base! Tarkoflex, you can find it in the shops of the Pod Gallery. |
| 10. | WHAT DIRECTION OF PLACEMENT OF PARQUET IS USED WHEN INSTALLING? |
| Position direction If the room is a square board shape, it should be positioned in length parallel to the direction of the light source. If it is a long narrow board room, it is best to place the length of the room due to the natural operation of the tree. Regardless of the direction of setting, we should not forget the expansion gap (wall spacing). |
| 11. | WHAT IS EXPANSION GAP? |
| Wood is a living material which means that unad hardened (swimming) parquet floors will move slightly (expand or collect), despite consisting of multiple layers, depending on external temperature changes during the year. For this reason, you should leave space with an expansion spacing of at least 1.5 mm per meter in width and length of floor or min 8-10 mm between the floor and walls. This also applies to the space between floor and thresholds, pipes, stairs, pillars, fireplaces, stone floors, etc. After the installation of the parquet flooring, expansion periods are successfully hidden by wall walls. In case the parquet floor is installed as a swimming floor in a multi-room building, each room should be seen as an independent whole, i.e. leave expansion spacing on each aisle between the premises. In case the parquet is glued to the surface, the specified expansion spacing between the rooms is not necessary. |
| 12. | WHEN CAN NATURAL WOOD FLOORS BE INSTALLED AND UNDER WHAT CONDITIONS? |
| Parquet flooring and all other wooden floors can only be installed after all other construction and decorative works have been completed. The installation of parquet flooring should be the final part of the work, just before you enter the furniture in the room. All other works (installation of windows and doors, central heating, electrical installations and painter’s works) should be completed in advance. The room must be completely dry and cleaned before the parquet flooring can be installed. Also, the room should provide the necessary humidity and temperature which will be normally, during the future use of the room, and the parquet before installation should be kept in the room where the installation will take place (unpacked, laid directly on the floor), at least 48 hours before installation in order to adjust to the temperature and conditions of the space. |
| 13. | WHAT PREPARATORY ACTIONS SHOULD BE DONE IMMEDIATELY BEFORE THE PARQUET FLOORING IS INSTALLED? |
| The surface on which you will place the parquet must be clean and dry, leveled and uniform, without any cracks or bulge. Protective foil (so-called parquet flooring) must be used because it represents thermal and sound protection of parquet flooring as well as the only moisture between parquet flooring and, say, concrete (or any other basis). This surface is not used only if you have decided to install parquet floorboards by gluing the entire concrete surface or other surface on which you place the floor. |
| 14. | CAN ONLY A SUN-GROWING LAMINATE BASE BE USED FOR PARQUET FLOORING? |
| It can, if the parquet flooring is installed on a dry surface type of old parquet flooring or pvc floor. If it is installed on concrete use moisturebarrier i.e. nylon under laminate base is mandatory (or only use of Tarkoflex foil!) When installing parquet flooring it is necessary to install some kind of moisture. The laminate base sponge does not represent this type of moisture protection, so it is necessary to install another surface whose properties provide this type of protection to the parquet flooring. One of the products that has this feature – Tarkoflex, can be found in the shops of the Pod Gallery. |
| 15. | WHICH FLOOR SYSTEM IS BEST FOR USE ALONG WITH UNDERFLOOR HEATING? |
| According to the Fraunhofger Institute for Tree Testing, all types of parquet flooring are suitable for underfloor heating. Certainly, careful planning and professional installation is mandatory for both underfloor heating and parquet flooring. Plastic surface must always be used when installing parquet flooring to protect against moisture, but the right temperature level in the underfloor heating system must always be maintained. The ideal temperature level is between 20-22ºC, but it must never cross 27ºC in any part of the room, even under the carpet. Note: Wood types should be avoided maple and beech for placement in underfloor heating because these types of wood react more than all other types of wood. This reaction is reflected in the possible appearance of the eyes among the built-in floorboards as well as the uneven darking of the floor’s face. |
| 16. | PARQUET IS INSTALLED. WHAT NOW? |
| One of the most important things to do is to put a protective shoe mat in front of the front door. The water and sand that are brought in on your shoes have an abrasive effect on the top surface of your floor. We also recommend that you place protective filaments on the feet of chairs, tables and other moving furniture to prevent unnecessary scratching of the surface of your flooring. To ensure that your floor does not respond to extreme humidity, which may be possible to remove any water that can eventually be found on the floor (spilled glass, spill…). Humidity can also affect built-in parquet: the ideal humidity in the room with built-in parquet should move at an interval of 30-60% RH at 20ºC temperature. In order to prevent this occurrence, it is desirable to invest in a smaller air moisture – it will be beneficial for your parquet as well as for you because dry air is not suitable for human health. |
| 17. | HOW IS IT MAINTAINED AND CLEAN PARQUET? |
| Daily maintenance of your flooring is enough to vacuum or clean. You can also maintain parquet flooring by deleting, when necessary, with a well-drained wet cloth or wiper with careful use of mild and non-abrasive detergent. Use of any means of achieving glow (waxes) is not recommended because in the short term after applying, the face of the parquet will become suitable for grip of dust, and the overall appearance of the parquet flooring will be very bad. The floor gallery in its supporting products program has a special means of maintaining parquet and laminte that you can find with your nearest vendor. |
| 18. | HOW CAN I REMOVE THE STAINS FROM THE FLOOR? |
| All stains and marks on the floor must be removed immediately before they are dry or hardened. In the table below, see the most common types of stains and methods (means) for removal: Stains and traces | Uklanjanja methods | Fruit, milk, creams, beer, wine, coffee, tea, juice and other drinks | Water and mild detergent | Shoe paste, oil, tar, asphalt, black marks from shoe soles | alcohol | Ink, charcoal, lipstick, hardened glue | Methyl alcohol | Blood | Cold water |
| 19. | IS IT POSSIBLE TO DETERMINE THE HARDNESS OF THE WOODEN FLOOR? |
| By Brinell The standard way of measuring wood hardness was developed by Swedish engineer J.A. Brinell. A metal ball is immeauded into the tree under proper pressure. After a while, the scope and depth of the print are measured. The smaller the tree print, the tougher the tree, and the higher the value on the Brunei scale. The table lists the mean for certain types of wood. Because wood is a living material, subject to micro and macro climate impacts, so can the hardness of any species in relation to mean values. Greater value per Brinell means greater hardness of parquet flooring! |
| 20. | IS THE HARDNESS OF MULTILAYER PARQUET OF GREAT IMPORTANCE? |
| The hardness of the wood used as the top layer can be of great importance, especially if you install parquet flooring in high-flow rooms. Wood species with a higher value per Brinell are more advisable for such spaces, compared to wood species whose hardness according to Brinell is smaller (see table of hardness of wooden species by Brinell question no.19). If and after that you are not sure what wood type is the right solution for you, seek professional advice from our vendors. |
| 21. | IS THE COLOR AND TYPE OF WOOD IMPORTANT WHEN CHOOSING PARQUET FLOORING? |
| As a main rule, bright types of wood such as beech or ash are not normally recommended for very frequency rooms. In other words, such parquet flooring requires more maintenance and any particle of impurities will be visible. Darker types of wood with multiple variations in their color are in any case more suitable for such rooms. In the table below you can find our recommendations when choosing parquet floors for different types of rooms: Rb. | WOOD SPECIES | Reminds | Entrance hall and kitchen | Living room, nursery or bedroom | 1. | Oak | Suitable | Suitable | 2. | Red Oak | 3. | Beech flour | 4. | Clear cognac | 5. | Jatoba | 6. | Merbau | 7. | Dusie | 8. | Revenge | 9. | Kempas | 10. | Afriki mahagoni | 11. | Clear | we don’t recommend | 12. | Cherry | 13. | Walnut (American/European) | 14. | Beech plain |
| 22. | IS IT POSSIBLE TO FIX THE WOODEN FLOOR? |
| Yes, small defects can be removed and repaired using tree lytes in the appropriate color of parquet flooring. The parquet board in the middle of the room as well as the blades in the floorboard can also be replaced, but such repairs should be left to skilled builders and professionals. |
